Lumby and District Senior Citizen's Housing Society would like to welcome you to the initial stage of Lumby Senior's Campus of Care which includes Saddle Mountain Place, Monashee Place and the Dogwood Lounge. Our facilities are geared for senior's who are retired and continue to live independently, comfortable, safe, and pet friendly as well.

Lumby and District Senior's Housing Society incorporated under the Society's Act on October 8, 1974. Ground was broken and Saddle Mountain Place became a reality. The originators included a group of citizens who were concerned with the housing that was not available for seniors in the community. They decided there should be a low cost facility for seniors, which would allow them to remain in the community they helped to build. Pat Duke, the Mayor of Lumby at that time, along with his council members and many dedicated volunteers brought this to fruition. The Society became a registered charity of tax exemption status in 1996 and has been running Saddle Mounatin Place ever since.

Saddle Mountain Place is made up of 40 units which include 20 Bachelor Suites and 20 one bedroom suites. Tenants range in age from 55 to 90. The rent is very affordable as the goal is to provide low cost housing for seniors. Each unit has a front door which opens into a long hallway and a back door which opens to a small porch. There is a small garden area for each tenant off their porch and also a large community plot to grow a vegetable garden. The green space is lovely.
